Cookie and Local Storage Policy
I. Cookies and local storage
The ViaSanto app for iOS and Android devices does not use traditional cookies known from websites. The information needed for the Application to work is saved in the local storage of the User’s device (in the operating system: SharedPreferences; in the browser: localStorage). Capitalised terms used in this document have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Service (section II).
II. Data saved on the device
Only data that is strictly necessary for the Application to work is saved on the User’s device:
- Sign-in and session data: allows the User to stay signed in without entering the password again.
- Application state and settings: progress in prayer (e.g. the Streak, i.e. days of prayer, rosary beads prayed, the Prayer Goal), the “My intentions” list, Diamonds and unlocked Rosary Designs, as well as notification, language, sound and vibration settings.
- Consents and first launch: information about the consents given (including confirmation of being at least 16 and the consents required by the GDPR) and about completing the tutorial, so that they are not shown again.
In the Web Version, the Application uses localStorage and a Service Worker, which keeps the Application’s files in a cache so that it starts faster. The Web Version may download display components (CanvasKit) from trusted CDN servers.
III. Usage statistics (optional consent)
The ViaSanto Application contains no external advertising or tracking scripts. The Controller keeps only its own, pseudonymous usage statistics. They are off by default. If the User gives the “Usage statistics” consent (on the consent screen: “Consent to usage statistics”; in Settings: “Usage statistics (analytics)”), events are stored temporarily in local storage and sent periodically to the Controller’s secured server.
The viasanto.com website (information page and documents) does not set cookies, does not use analytics or advertising tools and does not load third-party scripts. The website’s server may process standard technical request data (e.g. IP address, time, page address) to display the site and keep it secure.
IV. Deleting data from the device
The data saved by the Application on the device can be deleted at any time: on Android, with the app’s “Clear data” option in the system settings; on iPhone, by uninstalling and reinstalling the Application; in a browser, by clearing the site’s data. When the Application is used in Guest Mode (without an Account), deleting the data from the device means losing the progress for good. In Guest Mode, progress is in any case kept for only 24 hours, after which it is deleted from the device; creating a free Account is sufficient to keep it.
V. Controller and contact
The controller of the data saved within the Application (the “Controller”) is Marcelina Goździewska-Ćwirlej, running a sole proprietorship under the business name “ViaSanto Marcelina Goździewska-Ćwirlej”, ul. Sikorskiego 15/8, 64-920 Piła, Poland, NIP (tax ID) 7642700903. Contact: contact@viasanto.com. Details of data processing are given in the Privacy Policy. The Polish version of this document is binding.
